Platypus
The platypus is devered from greek. platys means broad and pous means foot. many people
call it duckbil because the animal has a bill that looks like a duckbill.
it is native to tasmania and southern and eastern Australia.
Aperance
platypuses have flat talls and webbed feet. their body length is 30to 45 cm and covered with athick,
soft and wootly layer of fur. their bills are for detecthing prey and stirring up mud. platypuses eyes and heads are small.they have no ears,but they can sense sounds and light.
Behavior
Duckbills are shy animals and are seidom abserved, even in localities where the live .the are active only
during the early morning and late evening .they are axcellent swimmers and divers
Habitat
Platypuses live in streames,rivers,andlakes.famale platypusses usually dig burrows in the banks of riverivers or streams. the burrows are bloked wiht soil in serval places to proteet them from intrudes and flooding .for their nest the famales coustrukct a bed of grass,leaves and woods.males don't stay in burrow.
